The Da Vinci Code comes out on May 19th. There is a huge buzz about this movie. The book that the movie is based on has a lot to say against what we believe the Bible claims. Such as Jesus marrying Mary Magdalene, and the Bible as a product of man, not God. If you want more info, here are some links. One from Lifeway and the other from Focus on the Family. This could be a great opportunity to share the truth with friends that raise questions about Jesus and who he is. If you need more resources, let me know.

I'm not sure if my other comment made it, but I asked what others thought of this Da Vinci Code.
I was thinking the other day how so many people are in such a craze about this movie. We may think, "How can people believe in something like this?" But it's just like when you're in the grocery store and you see those magazines that say, "230 year old woman is pregnant with an alien!!" We may ask why would people believe in something like this, but people are easily swayed if it's "interesting."
One question I'd like to ask is what the difference is between Passion of Christ which the world said all kinds of bad things about, i.e. saying it was violent and not true. But with the Da Vinci Code, people are really excited about it, and are believing it to be true. What's the difference?
One woman claimed, "It's published so it must be true!" Well if that's the case everthing on the internet is true, which we know is not.
Also when the book of Judas came out a few weeks ago, I remember hearing people talk about it, and they said they found it mid March and the next day it was out and published. It's nice to know they did research on it before they published it.(sarcasm)
With the Da Vinci Code book out and the movie coming out, isn't it interesting that people would believe this book that has come out 2000 years later, but don't believe the disciples who were there? What's more reasonable? Who would you believe, someone who was at the scene, who was an eye witness to Jesus and his life, or some guy who comes 2000 year later and says all the former history is not true? Who's the more credible source to believe?
Remember Paul told us to put on the helmet of salvation in Ephesians chapter 6. The helmet protects our head against these philosophies and views in the world that are not aligned with God's word.
How do we deal with this movie and book?
It's obvious that the world would rather believe in something easier than the Bible and God. All the whoopla about "The Passion of the Christ" was because it was true and supported our faith(Christianity). The world doesn't like that. The Da Vinci Code is being used to go against Christianity and therefore is getting a stronger backing from the general public. Satan is behind this thing 100%.
As far as the movie and book are concerned. I would say be careful. Many have written that it could be a good witnessing opportunity. Just be ready to defend who Christ really was. Going to see the movie is up to you, but I wouldn't use it as an excuse to become familiar with the material. We need to be familiar with Scripture and our own faith. That would be like saying to go to a bar to understand why drinking can be bad. You don't have to experience it to know that it's wrong.
Buckle your helmet on a little tighter!
Thanks for your input and questions Charlie.
